On a stormy day in October, I drove into the woods near Osnabrück, to meet the hermit Maria Anna Leenen, who lives in her secluded hut with around twenty goats for almost thirty years now. After a profound spiritual experience, the former sports teacher decided to spend her life in silence and prayer, dedicated to God and the people who seek her out in their misery.
