For the Zeit Studienführer, I met five young people whose paths after high school could not have been more different. And yet I had the impression that each of these paths would lead to an individual, great destination. When I think about how I felt after graduating from high school and how high the expectations were for us to embark on a professional career, it makes me feel all weird. Because even though I knew what I wanted to do (guess what), I still felt the need to first arrive in this completely different life beyond school. In about ten years, I will have similar conversations with my daughter Toni, and I think all I will tell her is: listen to your heart. I will always be there for you.
