THE ROAMING
-
When I started roaming my garden at night around ten years ago, I found relief and a bittersweet comfort, I was incapable of explaining for a long time. Somehow, I literally couldn't wait for the sun to finally set, so I could start taking pictures.
Later on, when photographing flowers in the dark became a constant part of my work, I realized that it was a way to cope with the grief and the pain, the many deaths in my closest circle caused, foremost among them my mother’s early passing. Somehow, the capturing felt grounding and like having a tiny bit of control over the passing of time. I document life in a flash, just before it fades away. Because everything happens according to a greater plan, and nothing will be the same tomorrow, the symbiosis of estatic joy at the uniqueness of life and the breathtaking feeling of loss is the theme which will haunt me for the rest of my life. -
